We have an opening for a Patient Service Specialist - supporting Billing & Collections, which is part of our Revenue Cycle Management Department to work remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Providing Customer Service: You will provide excellent customer service by promptly responding to all patient requests in a professional manner; helping patients understand their account balance, and addressing any other concerns. The expected service level requires excellent customer service skills and thorough understanding of the EMR and EOB, along with knowledge of the entire claim lifecycle process.
- Claim Knowledge: You will understand each carrier’s Explanations of Benefits (EOB) to determine what payment, deductible and co-insurance is due, interpret rejection reasons and ensure claim is properly adjudicated. You will complete conveyances, as needed.
- Setup and Manage Payment Plans: You will identify the need for, and setup payment plans. Create and manage recurring payment plans on payment site and make required updates EMR
- Patient Follow-up: You will contact patients to alert them of outstanding balance and provide options to ensure timely payment.
- Documentation: You will properly manage and document accounts according to Axia’s policies and procedures.
- Training department employees: You will have the capability of training new Patient Services employees and current coworkers on our billing policies and procedures.
- Supporting your Manager: You will address any tasks assigned by your manager in support of Axia.
- Supporting your coworkers: You will expect to embrace the teamwork environment and help with various projects from your coworkers and manager.
Your Abilities and Qualifications include:
- Mastery of eClinicalWorks (eCW) or Greenway.
- Having at least 3-years’ experience in a customer service and/or billing environment.
- Having specialized knowledge of Medical Billing, Medical Coding, HIPPA and Insurance/Federal rules and regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong inter-personal skills.
- Great conflict resolution skills to be able to effectively work with patients to address their needs in a professional manner.
- Ability to effectively perform root cause analysis, with thorough knowledge of the claim lifecycle, to identify claim issues and support patients.
- Computer proficiency, including programs such as MS Office, Word, Excel, email, and internet research.
- A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), preferably a degree from a 4-year educational institution or certification in medical billing.
- Knowledge of a second language preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with secure records.
